Dear Parishioners,
I am reaching out to you to express my heartfelt concern for each of you that you remain safe during this most difficult time. The Archdiocese has taken the unprecedented step of cancelling “in person” Masses to do our part, as part of this community, in battling this Covid-19 virus. It is a sacrifice for all of us to practice “social distancing” in this way.
Of course, the fact that in person Masses are cancelled does not mean our community cannot come together in prayer. My hope is that you will join me in celebrating Mass through St. Kieran’s Facebook live account which can be reached at: http://www.facebook.com/stkierancoconutgrove/ We will have daily Mass and Sunday Masses the same times: 10:00 a.m. in English and 12:00 p.m. in Spanish. In this way, we can continue to join together in prayer during this grave and important Lenten season.
Please also understand that while in person Masses have been cancelled, St. Kieran continues to have financial obligations. As you might imagine, we have to continue to maintain the church and its grounds, pay the salaries of the staff and clergy, pay for electricity, water and other basics for the rectory and church, and make donations for the poor and less fortunate, among other expenses. All of these expenses will continue and yet our largest source of revenue, the weekly collections at each Mass, will not be available to help us meet these expenses.
I would ask that you please consider making a weekly donation online through our Parish website, www.stkierancatholicchurch.org, or send us a weekly check through the mail, to help the Parish pay its bills. A weekly donation would be most appreciated to allow your church to focus on continuing to focus on your spiritual needs, and not on the church’s finances. I make this request understanding fully that this virus has been extraordinarily difficult on people financially. Some have lost jobs and many have lost money in the stock market. For those people in our Parish, we understand that you may not have the ability to contribute as you once did, and we appreciate any assistance you can provide to our Parish. We simply ask that you be as generous as you possibly can.
It is my sincere hope that you will all join me in praying for those impacted by this virus. Please reach out to me during this scary and uncertain time at any time and please join me in praying for a quick end to this virus which is hurting so many in our community, nation and throughout the world.

Queridos Parroquianos de St. Kieran,
Quisiera llegar hoy a ustedes para expresarles mi preocupación por cada uno de ustedes, pidiendo que permanezcan seguros durante este difícil momento. La Arquidiócesis ha tomado la decisión sin precedentes de cancelar las Misas “presenciales” para cooperar en la lucha contra el virus Covid-19. Es un sacrificio para todos practicar el “distanciamiento social” de esta manera.
Por supuesto, el hecho de que las Misas en persona se cancelen no significa que nuestra comunidad no pueda unirse en oración. Espero que se unan a mí para celebrar la Misa a través del Facebook de St. Kieran, que puedes acceder en: http://www.facebook.com/stkierancoconutgrove/ Estamos celebrando la misa diaria y misas dominicales a las: 10:00 a.m. en inglés y 12:00 p.m. en español. De esta manera, podemos continuar unidos en oración durante este grave e importante tiempo de Cuaresma.
Por favor, comprenda también que, si bien las misas en persona han sido canceladas, la parroquia continúa teniendo obligaciones financieras. Como puede imaginar, tenemos que continuar manteniendo la iglesia y sus terrenos, pagar los salarios del personal y el clero, la electricidad, el agua y otros elementos básicos para la rectoría y la iglesia, y hacer donaciones para los pobres y los menos afortunados que llegan hoy más que nunca a la iglesia. Todos estos gastos continuarán y, sin embargo, nuestra mayor fuente de ingresos, las colectas semanales en cada misa, no estarán disponibles para ayudarnos a cubrir estos gastos.
